Balance…

Do you ever feel like there is a lesson that you are supposed to be learning?  A piece of wisdom that life is not going to let you move on until you get?  I’ve seen these lessons in my life time and again, but right now…it is balance.

I love photography and co-running this studio.  I enjoy it so much.  I believe with all my heart that it is what the Lord made me to do (and Dave as well.)  But, sometimes, I catch myself too devoted to it.  I start to let other parts of my life slide…time with my family, time in prayer, time to myself…Writing those words even makes my heart hurt because this is not how I want to be.  But, how do I find the perfect balance?  How do I work hard and do my part while trusting in God enough to sit back and let Him work?

When I’ve figured it all out, you’ll be the first to know.  But for now, I’ll leave you with a quote from a book that was given to me during my time in California.  David Jay a wonderful and amazing photographer in Santa Barbara allowed me to attend a Bible study that he houses each week for photographers.  If you read his blog, you realize he is very big on setting limits and not letting things into our lives that weigh us down and keep us from living the life we should be living.  Anyway, the book is called A Minute of Margin…I have to read this line a few times for it to sink in, but it’s  a good one.

Stretch yourself, with my blessing.  Dream large.  Break records.  Accomplish new goals.  Perfect your discipline.  But always remember that the race is not a race for records but a race for love.  Hear me:  You do not wish to come to the finish line and discover you were in the wrong race.”–Richard A. Swenson, M.D.

Oh Lord, that I don’t end up in the wrong race!

Since no blog is complete without a picture:  Here’s a shot from Josh took today…we were off to the pool–since I am working on balance and all :)–and we had to get Eden’s new shades.  Oh, and I’m in there too.  🙂
